At 519 Hockey we use innovative training techniques to help our young athletes develop their skills while having fun!

About

519 Hockey Training is run by D.J. Turner, former Jr.B player of the year, CIS student athlete, European professional player and current elementary school teacher. D.J.'s unique combination of educational and playing experience ensures our athletes are provided with proper instruction AND correction while partaking in challenging and fun skill development drills. We like to blend the old with the new, staying up to date on the latest training methods while also integrating proven techniques to make sure our sessions are able to translate into success for our athletes in todays evolving game.

Summer Camps and Weekly Sessions
6 Week Sessions
1. Small Groups @ WFCU (Day Time)
- 6 week sessions with a maximum of 12 players and a 1:4 coach to player ratio. All sessions 8:50-10:10 $450 Weel of July.7- Week of Aug.11
a. Monday Advanced Young Guns 2020-2017 $400 (no ice Aug.4)
- Progressive skating, stickhandling and shooting drills for young skaters looking to take their game to the next level. Players should be able to skate confidently with and without a puck in order to benefit from these sessions.
b. Tuesday Powerskating & Skills 2017-2012
- Detailed powerskating along with how to implement these techniques effectively with the puck and within a game. Areas of focus will include: proper stride, quick starts, overspeed training, transitions, crossovers, mohawks and more
d. Thursday Advanced Small Group 2017-2011 (travel only)
- Progressional skating, stickandling, shooting along with positional specific drills. For travel players looking for detailed instruction to improve effective skills.
2. Small Groups @ Atlas Tube (Evening)
- 6 week sessions with a maximum of 12 players.

Summer Weekly Camps
1a. June.30- July. 3 Defence/Forward Camp $300
2015-2011 8:50-10:40
- position specific skils, with more attention to detail and relation to game situations.
Defence: defending in the d-zone, gap control, retrievals, backwards skating, offensive blue line tactics and more.
Forwards: skating and stickhandling techniques to create space and seperation, shooting and goal scoring strategies, puck protection, attacking with speed, board work and more.
1b. June.30-July 3 Powerskating: Speed and Skills Camp $220
2018-2012 10:50-12:10
- Detailed powerskating along with how to implement these techniques effectively in a game. Areas of focus will include: proper stride, quick starts, overspeed training, transitions, crossovers, mohawks and more. Players split into smaller groups based on age.
2. July.7-10 Speed Camp $300
2016-2011 10:20-12:10
- This camp will focus on speed both with and without the puck. Detailed powerskating with an emphasis on speed will take place at the start of each skate. Implementation of pucks and game situations will take place to translate these speed drills to game situations.
3. July.14-17 Shooting and Scoring $300
2016-2011 10:20-12:10
- This camp will focus on shooting and goal scoring strategies. Shooting for power, quick release, changing the angle will be some of the concepts taught with tons of reps, purposeful instruction and detailed feedback.
4. July 21-24 Forward/ Defence $300
2016-2011 10:20-12:10
- Players will be split into their position groups to work on position specific skills. Each day they will then be brought together to work on those skills in forward vs defence drills.
5. July 28-31 shooting and scoring #2 $300
2016-2011 10:20-12:10
-This camp will focus on shooting and goal scoring strategies. Shooting for power, quick release, changing the angle will be some of the concepts taught with tons of reps, purposeful instruction and detailed feedback.
6. Aug. 5-7 3 day Combo Summer Skills $220

- This camp will focus on detailed powerskating for the 1st hour. The 2nd hour will incorporate the skating skills being taught with pucks and how to translate to a game. Areas of focus will include: proper stride, quick starts, overspeed training, transitions, crossovers, mohawks and more.
